A Colorado Springs teen, 19, was killed in a rollover accident on Interstate 70 on Saturday afternoon.
The teen was riding in the back of the Jeep Wrangler with three others when the driver lost control and veered off the highway. All four occupants were thrown from the vehicle.
“It doesn’t appear that drugs, alcohol or speed were a factor,” said Colorado State Patrol. Troopers believe a sudden tire failure may be to blame. Investigators have determined that the rear passengers were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The injured teens were taken to Vail Valley Hospital with injuries that ranged from moderate to serious, according to State Troopers.
